Ehtisham Tariq - Last Blog - Chapters 5-6

     In today's group discussion, we talked about school security. We discussed the pros and cons of having school security. The pros of this is that when we have school security, we know, as students, that we are safe. Even the faculty feels safe. I believe having school security is very important. We also discussed the trust point of parents with the community. We talked about the level of trust parents have on the community. We also discussed how this can lead to school improvement. I believe having security guards is very important because they help keep the school safe from any violence or any kind of bad behavior from happening. I know the High School that I attended (which was Bayonne High School) in Bayonne, New Jersey was very tight on security. They had metal detectors which each and every student and faculty member/staff member had to go through each and every day. Also, no student could leave the building during lunch or before or after lunch without the prior written consent of their Vice Principal. Our school was very big, so they had split up the building into what they called "houses." So, depending on what house your homeroom was in, you would have to go to that house's Vice Principal and get written consent from him or her to leave the building. I believe having tight security is very important in schools. I know many people do not favor having security, but in my opinion, having security in schools is very important because they are there to protect you. We also had cops standing outside of our school from the minute classes would start and until the minute classes ended. So the security is there for our protection. I believe security should be tight in schools because we need to have safe schools and we need to keep our children safe. This is because the children are the future. Having tight security will not only benefit us as students in the schools, but also people who are outside of the school (e.g. people passing by the school or someone walking their dog). This is because the most important thing is protection. If we don't have protection, our lives could be at risk and that could cause serious harm. Having tight security is extremely important. If we don't have tight security, how can we feel safe in school? Security is something that is very important and we need security in every school to be safe. This is because without security, schools would be a mess. Security plays a big role in keeping schools safe. Security officers/guards are the ones who look out for the students and really make sure that everyone is safe and secure. Having tight security is very important. A person in my group told us about how she couldn't even bring water into the school after lunch. Water wasn't allowed in the school after lunch that she went to. Security in that school was very tight, which is good, in my opinion because this shows that the school really cares about the students and monitors what is going on in the school premises before, during, and after school.
