In today's class, we talked about what we read in the book "Organizing Schools for Improvement: Lessons from Chicago" by Anthony S. Bryk, Penny Bender Sebring, Elaine Allensworth, Stuart Luppescu, and John Q. Easton. Today, we discussed chapters three and four in this book. We talked about student learning. We talked about how students can improving their learning and learning outcomes. We discussed how parent involvement in their child's education helps their child to be motivated and actually willing to do good in school. In my opinion, I know when my parents were and are involved in my schoolwork and what I do in school, that motivates me to do a good job and actually make my parents proud. I believe when students and teachers and parents work together, it helps the child to improve, but also gets the teacher and parent o know where his or her child is struggling in school. It is very important that every parent participates in their child's school activities and actually get to see what their child is doing in school. It is extremely important because when you are on top of your child's education, the child knows that his or her parents are on them for their education, which kinds of pushes them to actually do better in school. This helps the child to be motivated because every child needs motivation in order to do a good job. If you have no motivation, you'll just be an average student and won't get to where you want to in life because you didn't have a good education when you were younger. Parents really need to be involved with their child's education also because it shows and tells the child and teacher that the parent cares. That way, the teacher actually tries to work with the student and actually pushes them to do better. Being involved will always work in your child's benefit. You have to be involved in your child's education if you want your child to succeed. I believe this is every parent's duty to stay involved in their child's education because if you are involved in your child's education, it will also benefit you as the parent because you'll be less worried and confused at the end of the semester or school year to find out if your child did well or not. If you as the parent are involved in your child's education, you will be updated from time to time and will get to know how and where your child is at in school and what he or she needs help with. If you find out your child's weaknesses earlier, you can most probably arrange for some sort of help outside of school such as hiring a tutor for your son or daughter or you can, if you have the time, tutor your child yourself by going over his or her homework with him or her. This is very important in every child's education. It is very important to be involved in your child's education. That is what we discussed as a group in today's class.
